Downloading Data Files via FTP

Synchronising your data files is a two-part process – downloading the files to the PDA and then synchronising those files. This section explains how to complete the first step – downloading the data files. The next topic – "Mobile Sync - Data" – explains how to synchronise those files.

Technical Tip

You should have already setup your communication options and configured your home page - refer to "Configuration" for more information.

To download data files from Micronet:

  1. From the Start menu select Internet Explorer.
  2. If you use an external Internet connection, i.e. modem or mobile phone, complete the steps below. Otherwise skip to step 3.

  1. Select msadata_setup.exe from the list, then select Yes to the download question.
  2. If you are asked the question, "A file with this name already exists. Do you want to replace it?", select Yes.

A status bar is displayed at the top of the screen indicating the progress of the download.

  1. Once the download has completed, the left-most screen below is displayed. Read the information on this screen carefully, then press the Finish button.
  2. If the screen is displayed asking whether you want to re-install the file, select Ok.

  1. Several messages may display stating "A device with the same...", etc. Press the Ok button on all of these messages.

The data files will continue to install. Once finished, you will be returned to the Internet Explorer screen.

  1. Press the X at the top right to return to the start menu screen.

  1. If you used an external modem connection, you may disconnect it now as it is no longer required.

Now you can move onto the second part of this procedure, synchronising the data files - refer to "Mobile Sync - Data".
